Joseph Decuis receives the DiRōNA Award of Excellence

When we first opened Joseph Decuis restaurant to the public in 2000, we were blessed to have Chef Leah Chase from New Orleans, visiting.  This beautiful lady, who touched so many lives during her long life and was instrumental leading the battle against discrimination in New Orleans, was known and renowned for her Creole cooking.   She told us that the DiRōNA Award, with its roots in New Orleans, was her most coveted award and the one we should want to win for our restaurant.  I never forgot that.

Well, finally, I am so pleased announce that Joseph Decuis has recently received the DiRōNA Award, acknowledging our prominence as a Distinguished Restaurants of North America.

A DiRōNA awarded restaurant combines four ingredients to achieve a distinguished dining experience:

  • Menu - unique and flavorful dishes exquisitely prepared and plated
  • Wines & Spirits - well thought out selection of wines from around the world and a well-chosen spirits selection to round out the menu
  • Service – exceptional service where each guest is valued and treated with the utmost importance
  • Ambiance – an atmosphere where patrons can enjoy their meal and feel like they found something special

It is the successful combination of these four pillars of distinguished dining that create an exceptional experience; a DiRōNA awarded restaurant.

I am so proud of our great culinary team and this recognition for them. BRAVO!  It is also honors our patrons who have supported our unique "farm to fork" fine dining esperience here in northeast Indiana. Thank you for your support!

There are an estimated 650,000 independent restaurants in America and only 650 DiRōNA awarded restaurants, or approximately one in a thousand. In addition to DiRōNA, since 2000 Joseph Decuis has consistently received the Wine Spectator Best of Award of Excellence and AAA’s Four Diamonds and has earned the distinctive reputation as one of Indiana’s most highly awarded fine dining restaurants and culinary destinations.

So often I hear, “Why Roanoke?” and “You should be in New York City!”  (or Chicago, Los Angeles, etc.)  Being located in such a small town as Roanoke (population 1,800) I do feel it’s easy to be overlooked.  There is no local paper or reporter here but we love this beautiful town and this is home.  By winning the DiRōNA, it makes this award all the more dear being here, in tiny Roanoke.  I think it shows that even in a small town, there is a seat for us at the table in America’s culinary culture.   I hope you can join us.

Dinner is served!!
