Pete Eshelman, Chief Executive Officer

Upon graduation from Williams College, Pete was drafted by the New York Yankees and began his business career in the Yankees’ front office. Over the past 30 years, he founded two specialty sports insurances businesses that have since become part of public companies. Today, Pete’s passion is farming and producing the finest Wagyu beef in the world. He has a profound belief in the American Dream – anyone can achieve their dreams if they are willing to work hard for them. Now when he’s “dressed for the office”, he’s not in a coat and tie, he’s in jeans and boots. His favorite quote is: “There is no limit to the good a man can do if he doesn’t care who gets the credit.”

Alice Eshelman, Proprietor

A graduate of Denison University with a degree in theatre, Alice is the artistic soul and gracious hostess of Joseph Decuis. Originally from St. Louis, she has been instrumental in the aesthetic design of Joseph Decuis and the restoration of Roanoke’s downtown historic district. She is a active in many community boards and charities.

Tim Eshelman, President

Tim graduated from the University of Michigan and earned his MBA in Finance from Miami University, graduating at the top of his class. With a background in insurance, Tim has served as the financial officer for the Eshelman’s businesses and currently oversees all financial matters for Joseph Decuis – playing a critical role in the strategic planning and management of Joseph Decuis. He is an accomplished photographer and saltwater fly fisherman.

Aaron joined Joseph Decuis in 2000 as a line chef and quickly demonstrated the cooking, leadership, and management skills necessary for a world class restaurant, earning the Executive Chef position in 2005.  He has worked as a stagier in Heston Blumenthal’s restaurant, The Fat Duck and has earned the Court of Masters Sommeliers certification.  He established the local chapter of Slow Food USA and was honored to represent Indiana in Turin, Italy for the Terre Madre. His continuing education is a voracious passion for reading and studying cookbooks.

Carmen McGee, General Manager

Carmen McGee, General Manager

Carmen is Joseph Decuis’ General Manager and Wine Director, joining the company in 2000. Carmen is responsible for our award-winning wine list, and holds the Court of Masters Sommeliers certification. She manages and trains our wait staff in the fine art of “captain’s service,” which has made Joseph Decuis known for excellent hospitality. Carmen earned a degree from Indiana University, has two young daughters and  is a competitive runner and Tri-Athlete.
